On September 17, 2026, Hoan My Cuu Long Hospital, a member of the Hoan My Medical Corporation, held the scientific conference “Updates on New Advances in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.” Experts, physicians, and healthcare staff in gastroenterology and endoscopy took part.
The conference served as a forum for professional exchange and for updates on new techniques with practical value in clinical practice. It contributes to stronger capabilities in diagnosing and treating gastrointestinal diseases.

Technology Investment Alongside Professional Development
In his opening remarks, Dr. Nguyen Van Hoang, MD, MSc, Director of Hoan My Cuu Long Hospital, stressed that investment in facilities and equipment must go hand in hand with developing the workforce, regularly updating knowledge, and strengthening professional collaboration.
These are important foundations for improving diagnostic and treatment quality and ensuring patient safety. They also help meet the growing healthcare needs of residents of Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta.
Four In-Depth Presentations on Gastrointestinal Endoscopy

The conference featured four scientific presentations on techniques and issues of current interest in gastroenterology and endoscopy.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Dang Quy Dung, MD, PhD, President of the Vietnam Association of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (VAGE) Chapter, Vice President of the Vietnam Society of Gastroenterology, and Head of the Endoscopy Department at Cho Ray Hospital, presented “Endoscopic Ultrasound in the Management of Biliary and Pancreatic Diseases.” The presentation updated attendees on the role of endoscopic ultrasound in approaching, assessing, and supporting intervention for complex diseases of the bile ducts and pancreas.
Assoc. Prof. Le Quang Quoc Anh, MD, PhD, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Specialist at Hoan My Sai Gon Hospital, shared “New Advances in Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).” ERCP plays an important role in diagnosing and treating biliary obstruction, common bile duct stones, and other biliary and pancreatic conditions.
Representing Hoan My Cuu Long Hospital, Dr. Pham Huu Dung, MD, Specialist Level II, Deputy Head of the Gastroenterology Department, presented the study “The Relationship Between Narrow Band Imaging (NBI) Endoscopic Findings Classified by the International NICE Classification, Histopathology, and Outcomes of Endoscopic Colorectal Polyp Resection at Hoan My Cuu Long Hospital, 2024–2025.”
The study helps clarify the value of NBI technology in assessing lesion characteristics. It supports polyp identification and the choice of biopsy sites and appropriate management.
Dr. Nguyen Viet Truong, MD, PhD, Deputy Head of the Gastroenterology Department at Children’s Hospital 1, presented “Common Lesions on Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy in Children.” The presentation added practical knowledge on recognizing and assessing gastrointestinal abnormalities in children. It also highlighted the specific requirements for equipment, procedures, and team coordination in pediatric endoscopy.
Strengthening Connections and Sharing Practical Experience

Alongside the professional presentations, the discussion session let experts, physicians, and healthcare staff exchange experience and clarify common issues in clinical practice. It also covered how new techniques can be applied at each healthcare facility.
Through this professional networking, the knowledge shared at the conference can be applied in examination, early detection, and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. This is especially relevant for precancerous lesions, early-stage cancer, and conditions requiring advanced intervention.
Continuing the Development of the Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Center

The conference is one of the professional activities that follow Hoan My Cuu Long Hospital’s launch of its Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Center in August 2026.
The Center has been invested in as a complete system covering infrastructure, equipment, and professional staff. It has 6 endoscopy rooms and can serve 60 to 90 cases per day. In addition to diagnostic endoscopy, the Center offers many interventional techniques, including polypectomy, hemostasis, foreign body removal, ERCP, sedated (painless) endoscopy, and pediatric gastrointestinal endoscopy.
By hosting the conference, the hospital links technology investment with training, knowledge updates, and professional capacity building. The goal is better diagnosis, treatment, and patient experience.
