Job Description

Job Summary: The Infection Control Supervisor at Thuan My TDM Hospital will be responsible for overseeing, implementing, and monitoring the hospital's infection prevention and control (IPC) program. This role involves developing and enforcing policies, conducting surveillance, educating staff, and ensuring compliance with national guidelines and corporate standards to minimize the risk of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and protect both patients and healthcare workers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development & Implementation:
    • Develop, review, and update hospital-wide infection prevention and control policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with Ministry of Health regulations, Hoan My Medical Corporation standards, and current best practices.
    • Lead the implementation of the IPC program across all clinical and non-clinical departments.
    • Participate in the hospital's IPC committee meetings, preparing reports and contributing to strategic decisions.
  • Surveillance & Data Analysis:
    • Conduct ongoing surveillance for healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), including data collection, analysis, and interpretation of infection rates and trends.
    • Identify potential outbreaks or clusters of infection and initiate appropriate investigation and control measures.
    • Prepare and present surveillance data and reports to relevant committees and hospital leadership.
  • Education & Training:
    • Develop and deliver comprehensive infection control education and training programs for all new hires and existing staff (clinical and non-clinical).
    • Provide ongoing in-service training on hand hygiene, standard precautions, transmission-based precautions, sterilization, disinfection, and environmental cleaning.
    • Act as a resource person for all infection control-related inquiries and concerns.
  • Compliance & Audits:
    • Perform regular rounds and audits across all departments to ensure compliance with IPC policies, procedures, and environmental standards.
    • Identify areas of non-compliance and work with department heads to implement corrective actions.
    • Assist in preparing for and participating in internal and external audits related to infection control.
  • Outbreak Management:
    • Lead or assist in the investigation and management of infectious disease outbreaks within the hospital, collaborating with clinical teams and public health authorities if necessary.
    • Implement immediate control measures to prevent further spread of infection.
  • Sterilization & Disinfection Oversight:
    • Monitor and ensure proper sterilization and disinfection practices for medical instruments and equipment across all areas, including the operating theatre, central sterile supply department, and clinics.
    • Verify the functionality and efficacy of sterilization equipment.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Collaborate closely with clinical departments, nursing administration, quality management, and environmental services to promote a coordinated approach to infection prevention.
    • Communicate effectively with staff at all levels regarding infection control issues, updates, and best practices.

Job Required Skills And Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Microbiology, or a related healthcare field. A Master's Degree is a plus.
  • Certification: Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in infection prevention and control within an acute care hospital setting.
    • Proven experience in leading IPC initiatives, conducting surveillance, and delivering education.
    • Strong understanding of national and international infection control guidelines and regulations.
  • Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, and patient care practices.
    • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to collect, interpret, and present complex data.
    • Strong teaching and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
    • Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive in identifying and addressing potential infection risks.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and statistical software for data analysis.
