Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Provide comprehensive anesthesia care across all perioperative phases, including pre-anesthesia assessment, intraoperative management, post-anesthesia recovery, and pain management.

Ensure patient safety and comfort through accurate assessment, preparation, monitoring, and recovery supervision.

Participate in interdisciplinary care, clinical education, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Pre-Anesthesia Assessment Unit

Conduct pre-anesthesia evaluations per hospital protocol and develop individualized anesthesia plans.

Complete all pre-anesthesia forms and include them in patient records.

Recommend postponement of surgery if the patient does not meet anesthesia safety criteria; escalate unresolved disagreements to the Head of Department.

Educate patients and families on anesthesia procedures, preparation, and expectations.

Operating Theatre

Administer anesthesia and manage resuscitation procedures as assigned.

Report complications and cases exceeding expertise to the Head of Department.

Ensure compliance with infection control among surgical staff and visitors in the operating room.

Review patient medical records and anesthesia documents before and after procedures.

Remain present throughout the anesthesia process unless formally relieved.

Coordinate with surgical teams for effective patient care before, during, and after surgery.

Participate in surgical approvals and patient preparation; request additional tests and consultations if necessary.

Supervise and assign tasks to anesthesia-resuscitation nurses.

Personally verify medical records and perform advanced procedures such as tracheostomy, pleural drainage, and central line insertion.

Check and validate blood products before transfusion.

Manage multiple adjacent operating rooms only under approved guidelines and department head supervision.

Issue intraoperative medical orders during emergencies and ensure proper documentation afterward.

Remain responsible for patients until anesthesia effects have subsided and patient transfer is safe.

Arrange qualified escorts for critical patients being transferred post-operation.

Recovery Room

Receive and assess patients post-operation for recovery readiness.

Administer pain relief interventions and monitor for complications.

Supervise nurses and guide care based on patient condition.

Determine when patients are ready for transfer or discharge.

Collaborate with doctors to manage critically ill patients requiring extended monitoring.

Surgical ICU

Collaborate on patient admission and discharge decisions.

Monitor and treat patients, perform necessary procedures.

Report special cases to the Head of Department and participate in consultations as needed.

Ensure accurate shift handovers and recordkeeping for transfers and discharges.

Pain Management Unit

Evaluate and consult on perioperative pain management.

Explain procedures to patients and/or family members.

Implement, monitor, and evaluate pain relief strategies.

Detect and manage side effects or complications related to pain interventions.

General Duties

Attend departmental and hospital-wide briefings.

Communicate professionally with patients, guests, and colleagues.

Adhere to all hospital regulations and protocols.

Promote teamwork within and between departments.

Stay informed on updated medical knowledge and practices.

Participate in scientific research and continuing education programs.

Initiate and implement improvements to enhance service quality.

Job Required Skills And Qualifications

Education & Qualifications

Medical degree from a recognized university (Vietnam or abroad)

Master's degree / Specialist Level I / Residency (12+ months in Vietnam or 6+ months abroad)

Certificate in Continuous Medical Education (minimum 3 months)

Membership in professional medical associations

Active participation in scientific research projects

Professional Skills

Completion of hospital/corporate skill assessments with a score of ≥80%

Competency in supportive techniques: Diagnostic Imaging, Endoscopy, Radiology

Workplace Skills

English proficiency: Level B

Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Teamwork and collaboration

Presentation and planning skills
