Ho Chi Minh City – July 3, 2024 – Hoan My Medical Group, Vietnam’s largest private healthcare network, and Abbott Vietnam, a diversified healthcare company, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases and brain trauma. Hoan My and Abbott Vietnam will partner on comprehensive healthcare solutions to improve the effectiveness of screening and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and traumatic brain injuries.

The two healthcare leaders will also coordinate educational campaigns to help the prevention of infectious and chronic diseases.

Raising Standards for Screening and Treatment

To enhance the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases and prevent the risk of myocardial infarction (heart attacks), Hoan My and Abbott Vietnam will implement a cardiac risk stratification program using the High Sensitivity Tropoin-I RS blood test. This will help doctors diagnose and predict the risk of future cardiac events and make timely treatment decisions.

The collaborative programme also includes deploying the Alinity i mTBI test to assist doctors in assessing brain damage in patients with suspected mild traumatic brain injury, helping to reduce the rate of unnecessary Computed Tomography (CT) scans. As a result, doctors can make more timely treatment decisions and optimise care for patients.

Hoan My Medical Group and Abbott Vietnam will also build diabetic care programs and improve treatment outcomes for diabetic patients through comprehensive cardiovascular risk management, early detection, and treatment of diabetic retinopathy. They will also implement joint nutrition interventions for inpatients and outpatients which will help to reduce hospital stays, treatment costs, and readmission rates for patients.

In addition, Hoan My and Abbott will deploy a Clinical Decision Support (CDS) system. This uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help the medical team improve clinical management. It also contributes to improved health screening by categorising patients based on data analysis, applying risk assessment algorithms, and providing better clinical interpretation.

The companies will further collaborate on public education programs – specifically for at-risk groups – about infectious diseases that require early diagnosis (such as influenza, dengue, HIV, hepatitis B and C) and chronic diseases, such as heart diseases and diabetes.

“Hoan My Medical Group’s partnership with Abbott Vietnam is an important step in our efforts to set the highest standards in healthcare in Vietnam,” said Dr. Dilshaad Ali Bin Abas Ali, Group CEO of Hoan My Medical Group. “The collaboration will help to improve the diagnosis of and effective treatment for non-communicable diseases, which account for over three-quarters of total deaths in Vietnam. Hoan My is once again demonstrating that we are committed to investing in technology, facilities, and expertise to raise healthcare outcomes across Vietnam.”
