JOB SUMMARY:

The Regulatory Specialist will be responsible for all aspects of the Hospital’s government relations.

Responsibilities include legislative analysis, development of regulatory compliance policies, direct lobbying, obtainment of licenses, train hospitals on regulatory matters, and representing and advocating hospitals’ interests at regional hospital organizations, government entities, and advocacy groups functions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Works with key executives to build and implement a proactive government and community relations effort, which is aligned with enterprise strategic plans
– Works with hospitals to overcome regulatory challenges, push and obtain, manage and renew all relevant operational, real estate, and construction related licenses
– Responsible for the development and maintenance of the Government & Community Relations annual plans and budget, hospital policy with respect to government relations, and directing staff on government and community relations projects and events.
– Research and monitor government legislation and policies that could affect the organization’s business and clients
– Educates internal and external audiences, including the Board of Directors and management staff, about key public policy and regulatory issues
– Develops and maintains relationships and regular communication with a significant network of elected officials at the city, county, and government oversight organizations
– Ensures that positive relationships are established and maintained with key influencers in the community, including business advocacy groups, civic leadership programs, healthcare and social service providers, service clubs and others with significant civic influence in the cities served by the hospital
– Plan the budget for government relations activities
– Collaborate with partners to lobby around specific legislation, including political organizing
– Prepare and assist with policy positions and strategic recommendations to enhance and support the organization’s priorities
– Direct strategic initiatives related to government, employment law, immigration, and healthcare regulatory issues
– Serve as the liaison across the organization’s leadership team on government affairs and coordinate legislative strategies at the local, state, and federal levels
– Provide technical assistance on government and regulatory issues as needed
– Ensure compliance is maintained with federal and local lobbying disclosures and ethics rules
– Performs other responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

– Bachelor’s degree required in legal, political science, public affairs, public relations, communications or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
– Minimum of 5 years of related experience in government relations and/or public communication in a professional environment required
– Strong government contacts and connections at the local, state and federal levels preferred
– Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and execute tangible results, using strong problem-solving and presentation skills in a fast-paced environment
– Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask multiple priorities simultaneously, while adhering to strict deadlines
– Extensive experience managing and fostering long-term relationships with a broad spectrum of stakeholders
– Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
– Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Office) HRIS systems, and other databases
